dinner for two

At a half hour past 6 p.m. , Beng and I hooked up at woo chon, a korean restaurant in flushing, queens, ny. she came from manhattan on the 7 train, bone-weary, limping and hungry. i took the Q34 bus from parsons manor, jamaica qns. The fastest and simplest way to celebrate our 36th anniversary. I don't know, but for $55, the cheapest?? We feasted on salmon (her order), chicken teriyaki, whole chicken stew , green salad, broiled fish and a slew of kimchis. Indeed, a heavenly dinner for two who are both suffering from bouts of arthritis, gout and other pains. At a quarter past 7 we were done. Full and heavy. Before going home, we passed by a chinese super mart to buy pompano, porgies and other items.

Now, i remember that same date, last year i prepared food for us and our friends upstairs. We had adobo, fried chicken, shanghai rolls and Beng's favorite escabeche. A plateful of difference from what we had earlier.
